WiredX.net Launches Officially

WiredX.net officially launches free distribution service of pure Java X servers.

SENDAI, JAPAN, Jul 11, 2000 -- JCraft,Inc., software development company specializing in Java applications, announced today that WiredX.net is officially opening its doors to all GNU/Linux, *BSD, Unices and X Window System users for realizing the mantra 'Wrap every desktop in X Window System'. WiredX.net is intended to provide free distribution service of X Window System server written in pure Java, WiredX and WiredX-Lite, which enable accesses to unix applications from Microsoft Windows via web browsers, on demand, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

"We," says Atsuhiko Yamanaka, Founder and CEO of JCraft,Inc, "are convinced the ubiquitousness of X servers will leverage the growth of GNU/Linux, *BSD, Unices, X and Open Source communities and their marketing opportunities and we firmly believe WiredX.net will contribute to their success."

The service of WiredX.net will cover Microsoft Windows desktops, where IE 4.*,5.* and Netscape 4.5 or higher are running. This means WiredX.net will be able to convert several millions of Windows desktops to X terminals instantly. In the near future, Mac OS X and OS/2 desktops and Be appliances users will be also able to access to X applications instantly by WiredX.net.

"Our mission," Yamanaka says, "is to become a pioneer, who reclaims undeveloped desktops, where Unix, X applications have not reached yet. Needless to say, GNU/Linux will be soon ubiquitous via servers, gateways, home gateways, net appliances, game consoles and other equipments. If X servers are ubiquitous, Unix, X application vendors will be able to provide their products on these equipments for several millions of desktop and support/consulting providers will get new huge user base."

"We would be pleased if our customers continue to use our services, but we would be equally pleased if some of customers replace their OS with others, which natively supports X Window System. Our mantra is 'Wrap every desktop in X Window System'.", he said.
